The summer months are often very busy in the K-Pop industry, as most new groups debut around this time. CUBE Entertainment is one of the biggest artist management industries in South Korea. They manage groups such as BTOB, (G)-IDLE, CLC and Pentagon. This time, CUBE is all set to debut a girls group on the 10th of June 2021. LIGHTSUM happens to be the only group in the agency where all the members were born after the year 2000. LIGHTSUM is all set to debut with their first single titled ‘Vanilla’. Given the success of their seniors from the same agency, LIGHTSUM is also expected to make a great name for themselves. 1. Sangah
— LIGHTSUM·라잇썸 (@CUBE_LIGHTSUM) April 18, 2021 The lead dancer and rapper for LIGHTSUM, Sangah was the first member of the group to be introduced. Her full name is Yoon Sangah, and she was born on the 4th of September in 2002. Her profile was revealed on the 19th of April, 2021. She is also the ‘eonni’ or the oldest member of the group. She is 168 centimeters or 5 feet 6 inches tall.
2. Chowon
— LIGHTSUM·라잇썸 (@CUBE_LIGHTSUM) April 19, 2021 All set to be the main vocalist of LIGHTSUM, Chowon’s official name is Han Cho Won. Chowon was born in Seoul on the 16th of September in 2002. She was revealed to be the third member of LIGHTSUM on April 20th, 2021. Interestingly, Chowon has actually been active in the industry for a while now. In 2018, K-Netizens saw her in Mnet’s reality survival show called Produce 48. Chowon was representing Cube Entertainment in the show. It was later announced that she has agreed to sign an official contract with the agency. Chowon ranked 13th in the finale of Produce 48. Chowon already has an active career as an actress. She was seen in 58 Years, Dilkusha and Bully Bad Guys.
3. Nayoung
— LIGHTSUM·라잇썸 (@CUBE_LIGHTSUM) April 20, 2021 The fourth member of LIGHTSUM to be revealed on the 21st of April was Nayoung. Kim Na Young was born on November 30th in 2002. She was born in the Gangwon Province of South Korea. Nayoung was also a participant in Mnet’s Produce 48. However, Nayoung was eliminated in the 11th episode of the survival show after being placed 21st. She was representing Banana Culture in Produce 48. In fact, it was later announced that Nayoung will be debuting as part of the group Banana Culture Newkid. However, this pre-debut trainee group’s debut was ultimately canceled in 2019. Now, we will see Nayoung debut with LIGHTSUM under Cube Entertainment.
4. Hina
— LIGHTSUM·라잇썸 (@CUBE_LIGHTSUM) April 21, 2021 The fifth member of LIGHTSUM to be revealed on April 22nd, 2021 was Hina. She was born as Nagai Hina and is actually from Japan. Hina was born on the 7th of April in 2003. According to her profile released by Cube Entertainment, Hina is 158 centimeters or 5 feet 2 inches tall. We will know more about her after LIGHTSUM debuts. However, we know that Hina is the only Japanese member and foreigner in LIGHTSUM.
5. Juhyeon
— LIGHTSUM·라잇썸 (@CUBE_LIGHTSUM) April 18, 2021 On the 19th of April earlier this year, along with Sangah, Juhyeon was revealed to be the second member of LIGHTSUM. Her full name is Lee Ju Hyun. She has been active in this industry through various survival shows since 2017. Juhyeon participated in the survival show called The Unit and represented Cube Entertainment. Later, she was eliminated after being placed 25th in the 14th episode. Juyeon also participated in KBS2’s dance show called Dancing High. Here, she was eliminated on the 2nd episode. Juhyeon was born on the 8th of April in 2002. She has been a trainee with Cube Entertainment since 2014. Juhyeon is the lead vocalist, main dancer, and Leader of LIGHTSUM.
6. Yujeong
— LIGHTSUM·라잇썸 (@CUBE_LIGHTSUM) April 21, 2021 Born as Lee Yu Jeong, Yujeong celebrates her birthday on the 14th of June every year. She was born in 2014 in Seoul. Yujeong was also a contestant in Produce 48. She represented CNC School here. Yujeong was eliminated in the eighth episode of the show after she was placed in the 51st position. Yujeong had joined CNC as a trainee in December 2018, but she left in the latter half of 2019. She was also a trainee in Fantagio for a while. Yujeong’s profile was revealed on the 22nd of April 2021 as a sub-vocalist for LIGHTSUM.
7. Huiyeon
— LIGHTSUM·라잇썸 (@CUBE_LIGHTSUM) April 20, 2021 Born as Oh Huiyeon on the 5th of August 2005, Huiyeon is the sixth member of LIGHTSUM. Her profile was revealed on the 21st of April 2021. Not much is known about Huiyeon apart from the fact that she is 159 centimeters or 5 feet 3 inches tall. Huiyeon’s role is also that of a sub-vocalist.
8. Jian
— LIGHTSUM·라잇썸 (@CUBE_LIGHTSUM) April 19, 2021 The maknae of LIGHTSUM, Kim Ji An, or Jian, was born on November 4th, 2006. Her profile was revealed on the 20th of April 2021. She is the youngest member of LIGHTSUM to debut at the age of 14 years. Jian’s role in the group is that of a rapper and sub-vocalist. We hope to get more information about Jian once LIGHTSUM debuts.
